Do You Know How to Stay Motivated?

 

Hello, dear reader, and welcome back to my blog! Motivation is one of the most powerful emotions that humans are able to experience. Motivation is the key behind the greatest achievements of humanity and, when harnessed correctly, allows people to accomplish things that once seemed impossible. As a motivation specialist, I feel that I am uniquely qualified to discuss some of the steps you can take to ensure that you stay as motivated as possible when trying to reach your goals. In my previous post, I went over a few of the key ingredients of motivation and, in today’s post, I am going to continue in this seem vein. If you haven’t read my previous post, I suggest that you go back and do so now, however, if you’re the type of person that like to dive right in, that is totally fine also.

 

Motivation Allows People to Achieve Amazing Things

 

Have you ever had one of those days where everything seemed to just fall in place? On of those days where, no matter what you did, you were successful in your endeavors and you felt like you could accomplish anything? What if I told you that you could have those types of days more often than not and leverage that success in such a way that you continue to accomplish the things that you want? Motivation and success are inexorably linked and, below, I have listed a few more tips to help you stay motivated and on track to achieve your goals.

 

 

  • Stay in the Present: Although it is admirable to focus on the future and the things that you want to achieve in your life, staying focused on the present is one of the best ways to stay motivated. The future is dependent upon your actions in the present, meaning that unless you take the step today to achieve what you want tomorrow, you will never achieve your goals. If you find yourself focussing too much on the future or, as many people do, on the past, remember to take some time to recenter yourself. The future will happen when it happens, fretting over it now will do nothing but detract from your motivation in the present.
  • Take Charge: Have you ever been in one of those situations where you know you have to do something yet you keep putting it off? As the day goes on, the task looms over you like a raincloud, filling your mind with worry and anticipation. If you’re like most people, however, as soon as you start to actually work on the task you have to do, things don’t seem all that bad. Multiple studies have shown that by simply taking action and starting a task, most people will end up finishing it. Objects in motion tend to stay in motion and the same thing is true of people. Taking charge of your day and doing the things you know you need to do is a great way to stay motivated.
  • Choose to do Things: Language, for better or worse, shapes the way we think. When people tell themselves they “have” to do something or that they “must” do something, it can lessen the amount of motivation that they feel. If you find yourself dreading the things you “have” to do, instead think of them as things that you are “choosing” to do.  A simple change in verbiage is often enough to help boost motivation because, after all, why would you choose to do things that you don’t want to do?
